I record the time and date, because I'm about to jump into a new project. I've spent the last little while on the floor in my office, reviewing notes. And now, I'm going to do it -- writejust a wee bit of my new story before I leave for school. Starting a new project is always a little scary, but exciting, too. This time, I'm planning to do another historical novel. The story came to me as a gift -- inspired by a wonderful older woman I met last spring and with whom I have become friends. And there's a link to the Holocaust, as there was in my book What World Is Left. Only this story is going to be set in 1940s Montreal.

So wish me luck!

On another note, I attended a celebration yesterday for a literacy group called J'Apprends Avec Mon Enfant (I Learn With My Child). Picture book author and illustrator Marie-Louise Gay was the star of the event. She read to a group of pre-schoolers from her book Stella Reine de Neige. She read in French, but the English version of her book is called Stella Queen of the Snow. What Marie-Louise read was so lovely I had to reach into my purse for my pen and write it down so I could share it with you, dear blog readers. Here it comes: "Can we eat snowflakes?" "Polar bears eat snowflakes for breakfast every morning." What I love about those lines is their playfulness and imagination. (I had eggs for breakfast this morning, but tomorrow, I plan to have cereal and pretend it's snowflakes.) Click here if you want to see a video-clip of the event and Marie-Louise in action.

Okay, time to get started on my you-know-what. Hope that no matter how busy you are, you've got something fun to work on too!
