Well here we are in San Francisco, having a super fun time. This is my first visit to California and I feel very at home here. We've already met lots of interesting people with interesting STORIES, like a young man who's made his fortune designing a new kind of penny-stretching machine. Yesterday we went to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit. Kahlo andher husband Diego Rivera lived in San Francisco in the 1930s. I jotted down something Kahlo said that I thought might resonate with you blog readers: "The only thing I know is I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration." I think lots of writers, myself included, would say we feel the same way about writing.

Some neat sightings in San Francisco: a rather serious elderly woman pushing a stroller with two bull dogs inside; a protest outside the local KFC; a sign near a bus stop that read, "Do not put your feet on the wall." Oh and guess what, this morning Mike and I jogged across the Golden Gate Bridge (and back). Now that was FUN.
